Kevin
Foureman
Kevin
has had a long history of interest in martial arts. He spent years wrestling
with anyone who would wrestle and training with anyone from any martial
art that would show him something. Finally in the early eighties he
trained officially in Shorin Ryu Karate only to decide itwasn’t
what he was looking for. He was looking for a practical system that
was based on how things worked realistically in a self-protection situation.
He researched practically
every system out there to see what each one was, how they moved, where
it came from, and how those systems had changed over the centuries.
After attending a seminar in 1986 by Shidoshi Bud Malmstrom, from one
of the couple of systems he had narrowed it to, he knew this was the
one for him. He has continued to train in the Kobudo/Ninpo Taijutsu
school of thought ever since. He has managed to train, over these last twenty-two years, directly with some of the best those schools has had to offer from both the U.S., Japan, and even Europe. Kevin runs a small dedicated training group in Darke County, Ohio. The training group is called Darke County Traditional Japanese Martial Arts. No longer having time to run a large school, Kevin has narrowed the group to a few dedicated individuals that he can concentrate on teaching the material just the way he has always wanted to teach it. Over all the years of teaching Kevin has concentrated on adult students, has had many women students, quite a few law enforcement students, and many from the military, especially special forces units, alongside many everyday people who wanted to learn to protect themselves in the best way possible. Kevin has grown up around firearms and has moved them into his training over the years as part of a natural progression of self-protection training. He hopes to bring his feel for the finer details of self-protection movement and capabilities into the training as we pursue and strive for continued growth in the art of self-protection. |
